The AlterQuest Ideas Exchange is a Database of workable ideas, methods, concepts and systems which are successfully being used in communities and localities all over the world to make life better for the citizens of the Earth. Members of the AlterQuest Global Network get regular updates in the AlterQuest Newsletter and shortly there will be a Members only section on our web site. Please help us by submitting other innovative ideas.

The Ideas Exchange is two way. We provide ideas and concepts to our members and our members can send us any workable ideas they discover. Soon we will make a Forum page so you can exchange ideas with others.
The knowledge we have gathered is all stored in our Ideas Exchange Database which contains alternative solutions for local economies; employment; healthcare; food supply; water supply, energy; education; new technology .... And more.

Alternative Concepts for Job Creation.

Alternative Concepts for a New Economy.
There are alternatives for almost every necessity on this planet. Human beings need food, water, housing, power sources, clothing, healthcare, and education... And these are just the basics.
The Earth provides everything we could need to live - but as a species, we have abused our world and its eco-systems and we are now reaping the karmic effect.
It’s not too late to change. There is still time - if we take action. How? That’s what AlterQuest is here to show you!
* There are alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, water and wave power.
* There are alternative food production methods, such as permaculture, organic growing, hydroponics.
* There are alternative housing methods such as mudbrick, adobe, strawbale, yurts and geodesic domes. Some of these could be built at a very
reasonable cost in regions where natural disasters have destroyed the homes of millions of people.
* There are alternative water supplies. We should not rely solely on the grid which currently supplies water to our homes. If the power goes off,
the grid may not be able to pump water to us. We need a second or third option to provide us with water.
The world is full of good ideas. All we have to do is tap into these, share our discoveries and.... put them into action.
Positive People Power and consultation are the keys.
NOW YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES:
You can attempt to do this on your own (or) You can join others in the AlterQuest Global Network, to continue to seek out new ways to survive, thrive and progress in the 21st century. Take the first step to help create a new, better civilization for mankind!

The old economic system did not work. It was based on greed and inequality. A few businesses, and certain people, got very rich - while the other six billion human beings on this planet struggled to survive. Now that the economy is crashing, and well known icons of industry are falling one after the other, we realize that to rebuild our whole civilization based around such a fickle system would again leave billions of human beings without any hope and no way to move forward.
Many communities are based around corporations which have businesses in that region and if those industries fail, the whole society fails too. A new society should be one based around a diversity of small businesses which do not have global shareholders. Any shareholders should be involved in the day to day running of the company and should have great empathy for the employees welfare and not just how much profit the company could make.
A new economy must be based around the creation of local jobs, local businesses and local welfare of all citizens.
AlterQuest has gathered many wonderful ideas for the present and the future. Our book contains hundreds of concepts and our unique blueprint.
Here are some of those ideas:
• Formation of a local monetary system. Systems like this are being implemented in towns and cities all over the world. Where this type of local
money had been created, more people are able to afford food as well as other locally produced goods and services. See: www.ithacahours.com
• Formation of local businesses which everyone in the community supports.
• Make a community building society or bank.
• Start a bulk buying group so people can purchase their food and other essential items at a more reasonable cost directly from the manufacturer
or primary producer and bypass all the middle men.
• Do barter trade. This way people who have talents who cannot work full time, can still offer their skills in exchange for something they may need
e.g. A painter may paint a room in exchange for some home made food or a hairdresser may cut someone’s hair in exchange for babysitting.
Local economies lead to local job creation. If people in your region stop buying products made in countries where the employees are paid low or no wages, or where they employ children to do the hard labour, then these products could be made in your own region. Clothing could be made using locally produced cotton or wool and sewn by local dressmakers, tailors or knitters. Food could be bought from directly local farmers which benefits both the farmer and the community. Creating jobs is three-fold. (1) The community supports all local businesses. (2) These businesses then grow and (3) This, in turn create opportunities to employ more people from the community.
Ideas to create employment:
• Encourage the formation of local small businesses to provide a diversity of goods and services e.g. food, preserves, meat, wool, eggs,
clothing, furniture, shoes, toys, herbs, vegetables, electronics etc. This way the whole town or region is not relying on one company or product
for its livelihood.
• Don’t shop at mega-marts which employ few people and trample over local traders.
• Open local markets. Make small, community-friendly shopping markets and get away from huge, impersonal malls.
• Start a training program to help people to gain new skills.
• Offer micro-finance small loans to community members who want to start a small business.
• Buy Fair Trade products. These are products which are made by the people who you buy from directly. This avoids the middle men and gives all
the profit to the people who have actually made the food or items. This is the fairest system. www.fairtradefederation.org
